2008 Kangal Dog National Specialty Show
The KDCA held its National Specialty show in Hutto, Texas on September 6 at the Triple Crown Dog
Academy. Carola Crooker and Bill Johnson had all of their ducks in a row. When I arrived Friday
afternoon they already had the ring set up, ribbons arranged, and everything ready to go. Their efforts
preparing for this event are certainly appreciated. They worked really hard to pull this together.
We had a really nice group of dogs participate. They came from Louisiana, Texas, Colorado and
Alabama. Thank you to everyone who participated. Some folks went to a lot of expense to attend with
their dogs. All the winners received beautiful ribbons and Amish leather collars donated by Carola
Crooker, Patti Russell and Banks Mountain Farm. (See list of winners.)
Our judge, Laura Patton, did an outstanding job and provided a lot of insight into presenting these
dogs for show. Everyone appreciated her comments about their dogs as well as her show tips. She
made herself available for everyone to talk to following the Specialty.
I’m already looking forward to our next Specialty. Stay tuned for details on location and time and make
